What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities:
Front of House volunteers welcome service users to the building, and answer the telephone.
They will need to answer these face to face and telephone enquiries, signposting to the office where needed.
Taking lunch bookings by writing names into the booking list
Taking the money for refreshments and lunches.
Serving teas and coffees, and also the 12.30pm lunch. When serving the lunch, we carry the plates out to people, so this is a fairly mobile role.
Assist with putting things away and wiping tables after lunch.
Volunteers will mainly talk to and provide a friendly face to anyone in for their tea / coffee / lunch.
How would you be supported in this role?

Full training is provided so you will be prepared for being a companion and know what to expect.
Minimum 2 volunteers working with the service users.
Regular contact with the Wanstead Activity Centre manager
Regular supervision with the Volunteer Services Team
You will also have support from our staff when you need it throughout your service.
Out of pocket expenses and Travel expenses will be covered in line with our Expenses policy
References available upon request (after 3 months)

Front of House volunteers

Greeting and welcoming visitors to the centre
Making and carrying teas and coffees to tables
Assisting with serving lunch to 20-40 people daily, including clearing plates and tidying up
Being a supportive and friendly presence for all attendees

You will need to complete an application form and attend an informal interview.
If you are successful, you will need to provide references, undergo a DBS check and attend an induction. There will be training provided.
