Referral Secretary (12 Month Maternity Cover)

Job Description

The job holder will be highly a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who will provide medical secretarial support to the Partners of Lancaster Medical Practice. The job holder will also provide administrative and secretarial support to support the wider team which may include projects and attending meetings.

Key Duties/Responsibilities



?To provide an efficient, accurate and comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to LMP clinical staff.

?To transcribe audio dictated and written correspondence to agreed standards and timeframes.

?To safely manage patient referrals using Choose & Book or other referral methods.

? Provide and maintain a failsafe method to ensure that referrals, prioritising urgent referrals, have been actioned appropriately.

?To communicate and liaise with all healthcare providers and provide and receive information in a clear, accurate and concise manner.

?To take messages effectively and to pass on to relevant clinician/team. Ensure that actions are taken and followed up if necessary.

?Accurately add correspondence to patient records, coding if required.

?Develop and maintain efficient and effective electronic and paper filing systems within a shared drive, to ensure that information is kept securely and is accessible to other members of the team as appropriate.

General Duties



?To work collaboratively with other Secretarial and Administrative support within the organisation to provide an efficient secretarial function.

?To work closely with all members of the team and external organisations to enhance patient care.

?To work closely with the patients of the practice and their family/carers to provide information if required.

?Undertake administrative duties such as photocopying and email / mail distributions.

?To assist doctors with administrative tasks, working within defined protocols. Duties may include:

- Do the administrative aspect of referrals on behalf of doctors

- Filter requests for information/advice from patients/carers/family/other health care professionals and signpost to them to the most appropriate person to deal with the request

- This list is not exhaustive and there may be other aspect of administrative work that can safely be dealt with by the care-coordinator.

? Attend meetings and take minutes if required.

? Provide cover for other team members as required.

Qualifications



English GCSE (or equivalent) Level C or equivalent experience

Previous experience that demonstrates good attention to detail.

Demonstrable experience in dealing with the public and dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

Pay: 12.39 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
