DASU is a specialist organisation supporting people who experience domestic abuse. We are looking for a suitably qualified and highly motivated individual who will appreciate the varied challenges that this role will bring.
Due to the nature of the work, applicants must hold a full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle with valid business insurance.
Women only need apply under schedule 9 (Part 1) of the Equality Act.
1 x 37.5 Hours per week in Denbighshire and Conwy. Hours are worked over a rota system, covering 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 4.30pm on a Saturday.

Function
To provide support to men, women and children living in refuge accommodation who have experienced domestic abuse
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will be expected to:
Work based at refuge accommodation across Denbighshire and Conwy.
Respond to the needs of men, women and children who have suffered domestic abuse by providing appropriate help and support to enable them to make decisions about their lives.
Offer information on all relevant topics- safety, housing, benefits and legal options.
Inform residents of their rights and give the support needed to obtain them.
Keep accurate records on admissions and referrals and any other information necessary.
Evidence the ability to provide appropriate support whilst encouraging independence.
Record the daily activities on DASU online monitoring system.
Work to Supporting People framework and guidelines.
Encourage and support individuals to follow the agreed actions on support plans.
Receive regular line management from the Refuge team leader and participate in individual supervision. The post holder will keep line management informed of urgent issues arising during the course of work that require intervention (e.g. child protection issues / changes in risk). The post holder will be expected to undertake on-going training as part of continuing professional development.
Strengthen DASU's position as a leading specialised domestic abuse service within North Wales by consolidating and improving community links and relationships with other statutory and voluntary agencies.
Have a flexible approach and be willing to support clients outside of normal working hours where necessary and strictly in line with DASU lone working policy.
Take part in DASU 'on call' service on a rota basis and take annual leave entitlement with care to ensure that the project has adequate cover in place.
Accept a role that requires intense emotional labour; it is essential that the post holder actions good personal boundaries and the ability to maintain a clear sense of client -centered objectivity.
Maintain a robust awareness of the changing nature of risk within a domestic abuse setting, using appropriate and agreed information sharing protocols to manage any changes effectively and safely. The post holder must be an excellent communicator, able to meet people at their stage in the processes of change and be able to motivate people to make positive changes with sensitivity and acute awareness of individuality.

QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Understanding of the causes and effects of Domestic Abuse.
Knowledge and understanding of trauma and how it affects individuals
Ability to communicate sensitively with individuals who may be distressed in a trauma informed way.
Understanding and commitment to the aims of DASU.
Ability to work under pressure.
Flexible approach to working hours that fit the requirements of the organisation. Will include evening and weekend work.
Ability to work well on own initiative.
Welsh speaking desirable.
Car owner, and full, valid driving license essential.
Computer skills essential.
Willingness to undertake some weekend working.
Willingness to undertake some evening working.
Practical housekeeping skills essential.
