Job Role
The role of the refuge team leader will be to provide continuous support to the refuge team members. The post holder will be part of the team who provide a range of support services that aim to reduce risk and maximise the safety of individuals and families referred into the service, whilst reducing homelessness in Wales as part of the Welsh Government homelessness program 2021-2026.
Main Duties
To assess all new referrals and will prioritise the need of the clients according to urgency and the continued application of risk management.
To be responsible for ensuring that work is allocated with the client's best interest a priority. This may involve joint working with other agencies and professionals.
To collect outcomes data from the project and presenting this information to the Regional Refuge Manager and other senior staff on a regular basis.
To prepare for and participate in all relevant DASU meetings.
Manage the performance of the refuge team members. Dealing with staffing issues as necessary to ensure the project has adequate cover.
Diarise appointments, keeping their line manager informed. The post holder will assume responsibility for ensuring that the refuge team members are working safely and in line with all DASU policies and procedures.
Keep confidential and accurate records of all contact with clients and use DASU client monitoring and outcomes measurement procedures providing timely statistical data as requested. Monitoring and reviewing records made by the refuge team members and collate outcomes and statistics for the relevant Local Authority.
The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the refuge team members and ensure that they receive regular supervision and performance reviews.
The post holder will jointly assume responsibility for all of the refuge projects across their County.
To keep line management informed of urgent issues arising during the course of work that require intervention (e.g. safeguarding concerns/ changes in risk).
To undertake on-going training as part of continuing professional development and to identify training needs in the refuge team.
The post holder will be expected to strengthen DASU's position as a leading specialised domestic abuse service within North Wales by consolidating and improving community links and relationships with other statutory and voluntary agencies.
Facilitate presentations regarding the project to share knowledge and good practise.
Have a flexible approach to working hours, supporting clients outside of normal working hours where necessary and strictly in line with DASU's lone working policy.
Take part in the on call cover on a rota basis.
Person Specification
Essential
Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing those experiencing Domestic Abuse and an understanding of trauma and how it affects individuals
Have a minimum of 12 months supervisory management experience or relevant management qualification.
Understanding and commitment to the aims of DASU.
Flexible approach to working hours that fit the requirements of the organisation.
Ability to work under pressure and to plan and prioritise own workload.
Ability to be able to support and lead a team.
Ability to be able to collate & disseminate statistics.
Car owner and full, valid driving licence.
Advanced computer skills.
Willingness to undertake some weekend working.
Willingness to undertake regular evening work as necessary.
Practical housekeeping skills essential.
Ability to communicate sensitively with individuals who may be distressed in a trauma informed way
Knowledge of a range of options for and rights of those experiencing domestic abuse
Understanding of Safeguarding, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
Ability to liaise with external organisations and able to communicate effectively with a range of professionals
Ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries when working with those who are experiencing crisis
