Role Description
Due to continued growth and expansion in 2025, we are now moving towards a regionalised structure with a Regional Operations Manager looking after each specified region. The Regional Operations Manager will work with the Transport Managers in their region, ensuring consistency and compliance across the Depots, and ensuring effective Transport Operations in the region.
The regions will be split as follows:
North
Southwest and Midlands
Southeast
Travel will be required as part of this role.
Key Skills:
Ability to lead diverse teams across multiple locations
Experience with customer account management
Experience in process mapping / problem solving
Ability to deliver timebound projects
Strong financial skills / provide positive impact to the P&L
Transport / Logistics (preferably Fuel / Gas) experience
MCPC - International
IOSH/ NEBOSH / CMIOSH Qualified
High impact presentation & communication skills
Negotiating within unionised environment
Ability to work both strategically and hands on
Strong written, numeric and IT skills
Key Duties:
Provide direct cover for TM holidays and absence, ensuring there is a continuous management presence on site/s.
Support TM's across all locations, ensuring consistency and compliance with company processes are achieved.
Named Transport Manager on high volume O Licences.
Work closely with HR to provide disciplinary support, including incident investigation, conducting disciplinary and appeal hearings where appropriate.
Ensure TM's resource numbers accurately match customer requirements.
Review system data to ensure accuracy.
Identify opportunities to improve the operation / reduce waste, provide fully costed initiatives to achieve the same
Enforce "digital first" approach to the operation, improving tablet usage and "same-day" missing POD adherence.
Host union facing meetings to build relationships / address issues.
Provide regular updates to the business on initiatives / trends
First point of escalation for the planning team for resource related issues
Facilitate daily calls between planning & TM's where required.
Coordinate the set-up of new business, ensuring the entire order fulfilment process is covered, from order taking, to execution and final invoicing. Remain responsible for the customer until embedded processes become BAU.
Work with the SHEQ Manager to ensure delivery of the company safety plan / strategy at a TM level
Attend customer meetings where required, compiling KPI pack and associated stats.
First point of contact for nominated Key Accounts.
Other Skills / Requirements:
Review business processes / touch points and make recommendations for improvement
Identify training needs within the TM / planning group and deliver the same with support from the planning manager.
Work with Safety & Compliance Manager on the delivery of ERS
Attend depot safety meetings
Identify gaps within own working knowledge and set out a timebound plan to address these
Salary: 65-70K with Company Car.
