Operating the home in accordance with Care Quality Commission (CQC), policies and guidelines laid down by the home and the ethics of Meadow Grange Care Home Limited.

Effective governance, management and leadership are essential required skills for this role, as is the ability to sustain and promote the good reputation of the care home.

The manager will be responsible for ensuring the high standards of holistic care are consistently achieved and maintained and the overall wellbeing and safety of both residents and staff should also be at the forefront of this role. Delivering clinical guidance and training and monitoring working areas and practices will support this ethos.

A strategic and innovative approach is also expected, along with quality assurance monitoring and practice research development to always strive for continuous improvement and deliver the very best standards in all aspects of managing the home.

Role and Responsibilities:



Objectives:



Responsibility for the day to day running of the home and the care of Service Users.

Ensure resources are used effectively and high levels of occupancy are maintained.

To comply with regulatory requirements at all times, including the Regulations for the Registration and Inspection of Care Homes.

To ensure the written aims and objectives of the home are achieved and its policies and procedures comply with current legislation and recognised professional standards.

Ensure all staff are appropriately inducted, trained and the relevant policies and procedures are implemented to maintain the highest standards of care.

Ensure quality assurance initiatives are implemented and supported within the home.

Laise with social care regulators and local authorities to ensure standards are maintained.

Take the Information Governance Lead for their home and to work in collaboration with the Company's Information Governance Lead, being accountable to the Senior Operations Team.

To provide improvement, independence and choice for Service Users, making sure they are treated with dignity at all times.

Responsible for the organisation of staff including; arranging staff rotas, managing staff holidays and sickness levels

Overall responsibility for management of the home in an efficient and cost-effective manner within available resources and controlled budgets, ensuring budgetary control of the home is maintained in accordance with Meadow Grange Care Homes's financial guidelines.

Leadership:



Provide leadership to all staff, whilst being approachable and providing a consistent presence and open mind to other peoples values and opinions.

Follow staff selection, recruitment processes and induction procedures; ensuring fairness and professionalism are always applied and Employment Law is adhered to.

Create a culture of continuous quality improvement using the framework of clinical governance.

Take responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional, competent and high-quality care.

Ensure the appraisal process and procedures are followed and that required standards of performance are being achieved. Effectively manage under-performance through objective setting and regular reviews, and that regular supervisions occur in line with company policy.

Ensure complaints and suggestions are positively actioned and dealt with correctly.

Hold regular staff, Service Users and stake holders meetings to provide and receive feedback, and administer the questionnaires provided as part of the company's Quality Assurance Systems.

Nurture and motivate staff by encouraging them to understand the significance of their actions in the lives of both the service users and in the effective running of the home.

Care and Practice:



Ensure all service users have an up-to-date care plan, which is regularly reviewed and incorporates the users current needs.

Ensure any associated risks are appropriately identified and noted including, mobility, skin care, behavioural patterns.

Ensure the home and all associated processes and procedures are fully compliant with the Mental Capacity Act and empower service users with autonomy to make choices. Where appropriate, ensure best interest decisions are made on their behalf with all necessary parties.

Regularly monitor and review the delivery of care and ensure that the physical, social, emotional and psychological needs of service users are not just recognised but also addressed and met.

Ensure a regular programme of varied activities supports the physical and psychological needs of service users.

Ensure the diet of service users is both varied and nutritional.

Ensure the highest standards of care are consistently delivered that also fall in line with requirements of The Health and Social Care Act , CQC/Funding Authorities.

Ensure regular reviews of individual care are undertaken with Social Workers, Service Users, Relatives and key workers.

Conduct a pre-admission assessment for all potential Service Users.

Meet professional and legal responsibilities with regard to the storage, handling and

administration of drugs.

To ensure the protection and safety of Service Users at all times, which requires conducting regular health and safety checks, as well as ensuring call systems and fire alarms are fully functional.

To investigate and report to the Nominated Individual and Directors and appropriate agencies any signs of ill health, distress, abuse etc.

Ensure all medicines are dispensed correctly and in line with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

General Management:



Understand the legal requirements and regulations of CQC and any other relevant regulations and legislations to ensure the home is fully compliant with Essential Standards of Quality and Safety.

Have a full understanding of all policies and procedures for the home and ensure these are fully applied by all staff.

Ensure the staffing ratio is appropriate and meets the needs of all service users at all times.

Ensure staff absence is effectively managed and appropriate policies and processes are adhered to.

Participate in the recruitment and selection and retention of staff.

To carry out the duties of "The Responsible Officer" and ensure that the home compiles

with all statutory obligations and relevant legislation (e.g. environmental health, health & safety and fire regulations). To meet professional and legal responsibilities with Health

and Safety issues and ensure that all monitoring requirements are met.

Promote a positive customer care orientated environment and ensure all staff are familiar with the company complaints procedure

Commit to continued professional development and remain updated to ensure care is delivered in line with the latest research and promotes evidence-based practice.

To liaise effectively with Head Office Departments, building good working relationships,

as required for the good operation of the Home.

To ensure that all Service Users have a copy of the terms and conditions of care and that

all the necessary funding documents are completed.

Empower Services Users to control their own financial affairs where possible. Financial controls must be completely accurate and secure and up to date and records of all transactions must be kept.

Ensure the security and confidentially of records and information relating to the

service.

Ensure all appropriate records and information are supplied to Head Office and payroll.

Complete all Management reports and submit in a timely manner.

Attend Management Meetings and effectively communicate and collaborate with other Senior Staff.

To investigate and report any suspected acts of gross misconduct, negligence or abuse by any service user or member of staff.

Uphold the homes Equal Opportunities Policy at all times.

Fulfil the duties of the on-call manager.

Be open to new ideas, creativity and change

External Relationships:



Establish and maintain professional and approachable relationships with relatives and friends of the Service users as well as referring agencies, the local community and other stakeholders involved with the home.

Report any serious incident within 24 hours of its occurrence to the Registration Authority and other relevant bodies.

Inform the Registration Authority of all deaths and other relevant notifications that must be made to either CQC or funding bodies, within 24 hours of occurrence.

Ensure any visitors to the home are welcomed in a polite, professional and courteous manner.

Attend meetings and collaborate with the Director, Operations Manager and other stakeholders as and when required.

Conduct audits and other quality assurance as required and appropriately report on these.

Standard Requirements:



Responsibilities in an emergency:



Expected to respond to emergency situations involving the safety of service users and others this includes the ability to assist in evacuation of service users, fire drills and false alarms.

Confidentiality:



Any information relating to service users or staff acquired during the course of duty must be treated in the strictest confidence and discussed only within the establishment with the most senior member of staff on duty. The post holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about service users and staff in accordance with the professional code of conduct and relevant legislation such as Data Protection.

Health and Safety:



Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed upon them under the Health & Safety Act at Work Act 1974, paying due regard to health and safety in the workplace and management of risk to maintain a safe working environment for service users, visitors and employees.

1. Promote safe working practices within the home and ensure the security within the home is maintained at all times.

2. Adhere to the homes disposal of waste policy.

3. Understand and ensure the implementation of the Homes Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire Procedures.

Required qualifications:

Level 5 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).

Desirable:

18 months working experience at Home Manager level.

Pay: 42,500.00-50,000.00 per year
