We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead and oversee a single children's home with the capacity to house five children in North London. This is an exciting opportunity to establish and develop a high-quality residential service that meets the individual needs of children and young people.

Job Overview



As the Registered Manager, you will have full operational responsibility for the children's home, ensuring it meets OFSTED standards and delivers outstanding care. You will lead and manage the staff team, drive best practices, and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Team Management



Provide strong, inspirational leadership to the care team, ensuring high standards of care and support. Recruit, train, supervise, and develop staff to create a competent, motivated team. Conduct regular performance reviews, supervision meetings, and staff appraisals to identify training needs and career development opportunities. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that all staff remain updated on best practices and legislative changes Ensure adequate staffing levels, including managing rotas, shift patterns, and emergency cover where necessary. Support staff wellbeing, providing guidance and emotional support to maintain a positive working environment.

Regulatory Compliance & Safeguarding



Ensure full compliance with OFSTED regulations, Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and safeguarding legislation. Implement and maintain policies and procedures in line with best practices and legal requirements. Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring child protection concerns are handled promptly, efficiently, and in accordance with statutory requirements. Work closely with local authorities, social workers, and external agencies to ensure children receive the best possible care and intervention when necessary. Ensure staff receive regular safeguarding training and are confident in implementing safeguarding policies in practice.

Regularly review and uphold the home's Statement of Purpose, ensuring it aligns with organisational values and objectives.


Operational Management



Oversee the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring it operates efficiently and effectively in line with all regulatory and company requirements. Manage referrals, admissions, and care planning, ensuring placements are suitable and meet the needs of children and young people Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, conducting regular audits and inspections to drive continuous improvements Manage budgets effectively, ensuring financial sustainability while prioritising the best interests of the children in care. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring all documentation meets OFSTED and legal standards. Oversee maintenance, health, and safety compliance to ensure a safe and nurturing living environment for children.

Child-Centred Approach



Promote the emotional, physical, and social well-being of children and young people by creating a warm and supportive environment. Develop meaningful relationships with children, their families, and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes. Ensure children's voices are heard and respected in decision-making processes, promoting their rights and independence. Encourage participation in education, extracurricular activities, and personal development programmes. Support children in preparing for independence, equipping them with life skills that enable them to transition into adulthood successfully. Advocate for the needs of children and young people, ensuring they receive appropriate support from social care, healthcare, and education services.

Required Qualifications & Experience



Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People's Social Care Management) or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Registered Manager within an OFSTED-regulated children's home. Strong knowledge of OFSTED standards, safeguarding laws, and residential care regulations. Proven track record of working with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills. Driving licence (preferred but not essential).

Benefits



Salary Banding: OTE 55,000 - 84,000 per annum (inclusive of base salary, bonus of up to 15% of annual salary, and additional incentives; dependent on experience Company pension scheme.
