The clinic is a newly formed service that will be providing evidenced based day treatment interventions for adults with eating disorders through a specialist multi-disciplinary team.
Our aim is to bring together and develop a strong group of clinicians who are compassionate, able, and motivated to form a highly effective team, dedicated to improving the lives of those with eating disorders.
Main duties of the job
The Specialist Mental Health Nurse will be a key member of our independent eating disorder day treatment unit, providing expert nursing care and support to individuals with eating disorders. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred care aimed at promoting recovery and improving overall well-being.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Care:
Provide specialized nursing care to patients with eating disorders, including physical and mental health assessments.
Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Monitor patients' physical health, managing medical complications related to eating disorders.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration:
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, dietitians, GPs, and therapists, to ensure integrated care.
Participate in regular case review meetings and contribute to the development and adjustment of treatment plans.
Foster a collaborative environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
Patient and Family Engagement:
Engage with patients and their families, providing education and support regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress.
Offer emotional support and counselling to patients and families, addressing concerns and promoting understanding of eating disorders.
Advocate for patient-centred care, ensuring that patients' rights and dignity are respected.
Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement:
Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards, including those set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Contribute to clinical governance processes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and safe nursing care.
Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and the development of clinical policies and procedures.
Education and Training:
Provide education and training to staff on nursing aspects of eating disorders.
Mentor junior nursing staff and support their professional development.
Participate in educational sessions for patients and families on managing eating disorders and related health issues.
Research and Development:
Stay updated with the latest research and advancements in the field of eating disorders and mental health nursing.
Promote and participate in research activities, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and treatment practices.
Integrate new research findings into clinical practice to enhance patient care.
Qualifications and Skills:
Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Specialist qualification or extensive experience in mental health nursing.
Experience in the care and treatment of individuals with eating disorders.
Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous quality improvement.
Desirable:
Additional qualifications or training in eating disorder treatment or related mental health fields.
Experience in a similar role within a day treatment or inpatient setting.
Research experience with publications in relevant nursing or medical journals.
