Main duties of the job



Role Requirements



We welcome newly qualified Nurse Associates and experienced Nurse Associates



The ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels



An enthusiastic, motivated and innovative thinker to become part of the Older Adult inpatient service



The ability to work autonomously managing your own named patients, evaluating a plan of care.



The ability to problem solve, delegate, co-ordinate and manage time effectively



Excellent communication and inter-personal skills along with a flexible and responsive approach



Day to Day elements



Close working with all members of the Multi-disciplinary Team



Undertaking mental health needs assessments



Assessment and Management of risk



Liaising with other services such as, community mental health team, Hospital at Home Team, Mental Health Liaison Team and the Acute Trust



Effective assessment through SBAR and care planning



Supervising of junior staff, including students

Knowledge of the ageing

process and related mental and physical health problems

Knowledge of the individuals responsibility towards health and safety

Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development

Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate



Skills and Abilities

Essential



Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats

Able to assess, plan, and evaluate programmes of care

Able to work as an effective team member

Uses own initiative and is able to take decisions

Able to maintain clear and legible documentation

Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities

Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required

Able to carry out physical requirements of the role e.g. using mechanical hoists to move patients



Experience

Essential



Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Experience in prioritising own workload

Experience in working without direct supervision
