We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Disability Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care to individuals with learning disabilities, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. Your expertise in anatomy and patient care will be essential in promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for those you support.
Responsibilities
Gastro and nasal feeds
Epilepsy and medication
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to individuals with learning disabilities, focusing on their specific health needs.
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and mental health, documenting findings accurately.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management and lifestyle choices.
Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with learning disabilities within the healthcare system.
Maintain accurate records of patient progress and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid nursing licence.
Previous experience in learning disability nursing or a related field is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to patient care.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Compassionate approach to patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while also being capable of working independently when required.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of nursing practice.
