Main duties of the job



Box Surgery are looking for a dynamic, organised, and efficient Band 6 Practice Nurse who will predominantly be working within our Primary Health Care team at Corsham Medical Centre, but also at our own site in Box, Wiltshire.

As the successful candidate, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team, leading the delivery of primary healthcare nursing including elements of occupational health.

We are searching for someone who is able to work unsupervised, providing high-quality nursing care to the medical facility population at risk holding an individual case load, and through consultation identify, assess, diagnose, and manage the care of patients with complex health needs, minor injuries, minor illnesses, and specific diseases within their level of competence.

About us



Box Surgery is contracted to provide the primary and occupational healthcare service to Service personnel at MOD Corsham. Corsham Medical Centre is situated at MOD Corsham, approx 10 min drive from Box Surgery.

As the successful candidate your duties include but are not limited to:



Providing specialist high-quality person-centred

primary

care which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity using high quality clinical knowledge that is evidence based, with use of core healthcare guidelines.

Being responsible for the delivery of appropriate treatment, screening, and advice to patients within their professional competence and in accordance within NHS and (DPHC) clinical guidelines and protocols

Providing expert clinical advice, leadership and support ensuring the needs of the service are met by exercising and demonstrating high levels of clinical judgement, critical analysis, and decision-making skills.

Providing safe, evidence-based, efficient, and individualised patient care

Undertaking preventative health programmes such as travel and vaccination clinics, new patients screening, audiometry.

Undertaking technical nursing treatments and procedures for patients' complex/specialist healthcare needs (e.g., wound care, sutures removal, Electrocardiograms (ECGs), Cytology, Audiometry, Ear Care)

Providing assistance to the General Practitioner performing minor surgery

Providing specialist advice and support to patients and other healthcare professionals following assessment, diagnosis and through treatment

Experienced and competent in history taking and physical assessment and the triage & treatment of minor injury/illness. immunisation, venepuncture, ear care, audiology, travel medicine, wound care, cervical screening Experience of leading and promoting health and well-being clinics i.e. smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol misuse, sexual health Experience of providing care to patients with chronic illnesses e.g. Asthma, Family Planning, Diabetes, CHD and hypertension ensuring continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register (dependant on population at risk) Evidence of continuous professional development and the practical application of new skills to the work-place Experienced and competent in history taking and physical assessment and the triage & treatment of minor injury/illness. immunisation, venepuncture, ear care, audiology, travel medicine, wound care, cervical screening Experience in occupational health and military occupational health and musculoskeletal medicine Experience of having provided mentorship and/or coaching to other staff

Registered Nurse on sub-Part 1 (RN1/RN(A)) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council register Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Minimum of 2 years post registration experience working within Primary Healthcare
