We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our independently owned ophthalmology referral clinic. The successful candidate will play an essential role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients, supporting the ophthalmologists, and ensuring a positive experience for pet owners. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to develop their skills within an experienced and supportive team. No prior ophthalmology experience is required.

40 hours per week over 4 days
5 weeks annual leave

Non-resident out-of-hours rota (1-in-4)
Duties
Assisting the ophthalmologists during surgeries, procedures and examinations
Monitoring the anaesthetic and post-operative recovery of animals including use of the mechanical ventilator and neuromuscular blockade
Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
Performing laboratory tests and analysing samples to aid diagnoses
Providing pre- and post-operative care to animals in the clinic
Maintaining accurate medical records and updating patient files
Supporting pet owners whose pets are hospitalised
Ensuring the cleanliness and organisation of clinical areas and equipment
Handling administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing stock levels
Requirements
Proven veterinary experience is required
A recognised qualification in veterinary nursing is essential
Anaesthetic competence is highly desirable
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Compassionate nature with excellent communication skills
Ability to work well within a team and independently when required
Knowledge of relevant veterinary legislation and health & safety standards
Flexibility to adapt to varying workload demands and shift patterns on occasion
