Job Description

Location: Chorley, Lancashire (with expectation to move to Wigan, Greater Manchester in the near future)

Rates of Pay: 15.00 per hour Monday to Friday (day shift), 16.00 per hour at weekend day shift, Sleep Night, 120 per sleep. Bank Holiday rate is double time.

Contract: Full time, 35-40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: This role incudes the working weekday/ evening shifts, weekends and sleep shifts. This will be on a rota basis.

Flexibility is also required to cover for holidays and sickness.

About The Role

Your role will be dedicated to supporting a very engaging 19-year-old male client who presently lives with his mother and sister but has the ambition to live independently in his own home. The support worker role will be integral to making this transition to independent living. He is mobile and does not require any personal care, instead needing support to instil routines and to navigate tasks related to living independently. He does experience fatigue, so support sessions need to be planned to accommodate this.

You will provide support with his daily routines at home and in the community, with the main focus on community activities and maintaining his independence. He enjoys a wide range of activities, including sports, computer games and music and likes to try new things. He like to be active and lives life to the fullest

There are no personal care or medication responsibilities in this role. The client works with a team of health professionals, and you will play an important part in supporting his ongoing rehabilitation and engagement in meaningful activities.

Shifts can be flexible to meet the support and activity elements of his daily structure. There is an expectation to work weekdays/ evenings, weekend and some sleep shifts (where applicable). The shifts will at times include attending the gym together, where you will be encouraged to participate in the workout. There is also an opportunity to support during UK and abroad holidays.

Flexibility is required to accommodate changes in the client's weekly routine. Building a positive, professional relationship and supporting him to achieve his personal goals are key aspects of this role.

About You

Experience of working in a support role, both in the community and the home. Friendly, approachable and confident in the role. Experience and ability to understand and deal with complex and challenging behaviour. Flexible in approach to meet the needs of the client. NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent recognised health profession qualification. Full driving licence and access to a vehicle. Evidence of business use insurance to be shown. Experience working with acquired brain injury, and in the field of rehabilitation. Previously worked with therapists to deliver a support plan. Registered on DBS update service.
A private case manager is involved working alongside the client and his family. A full induction training programme will be organised in order to familiarise the successful candidate with our client's needs and complete training on her therapy programme.

This is a directly recruited RSW through the client's Deputy



The candidate will be formally employed by the client's Deputy at JMW Solicitors; However, the day-to-day coordination, oversight, and management of the care and rehabilitation package will be undertaken by a privately instructed Case Manager. The Case Manager will be responsible for supervising the delivery of support, ensuring continuity and quality of care, and providing guidance and liaison between the care team, therapy professionals, and the Deputy to maintain an effective and person-centred approach to the client's ongoing rehabilitation and wellbeing.
