Thompson Holistic Care Services (THCS) is a domiciliary care agency based in London, whose mission is supporting Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)survivors across the UK. THCS specialises in supporting clients with histories of non-engagement - whether due to breakdowns in professional and personal relationships -through person-centered support packages.
At THCS, we support adults living with enduring, complex brain injuries and support needs to live more safely and independently in their own homes and communities. With the high-quality continuity of support provided by our rehabilitation support workers, we work with multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) such as case managers, social workers, and therapists to carry out evidence-based rehabilitation programs.
THCS takes pride in delivering high-quality continuity of support for all of our clients, whilst support all of our staff. We recruit specifically and to permanent roles, providing highly-trained and experienced rehabilitation support workers to find the right 'match' for our clients- most of our support workers have been working closely with us for more than four years. Our organisation has been described as a "phenomenal" boutique support service, often going above and beyond to help those with life-changing injuries to get their lives back on track.
We are currently recruiting a male rehabilitation support worker to work with our ABI/TBI client in Hengoed Caerphilly (Wales).
Due to the nature of our client's support, we consider male applicants as a genuine occupational requirement which is exempt from the Section 9, Part 1(A) of the Equality Act (2010)
.
Our client is a 25 year-old man and occasional mobility scooter user living in his own accommodation with his female partner, and who is seeking an experienced ABI/TBI rehabilitation support worker to develop and maintain greater purpose, structure, and daily routine as he tries to regain independence with independent living skills and activities of daily living. Our client has a keen interest in pool, darts, and fishing so would really benefit from a support worker with support who can facilitate and engage in these sports.
No personal care is required, but responsibilities would include: Supporting our client with physical interventions and daily mobility support using his mobility scooter, and physiotherapy-led exercise regime; living with impaired executive function by helping him to coordinate, and attend, and engage with appointments, and maintaining sometimes-challenging relationships with family and his social group; and motivating him to engage with his wider rehabilitation programme to live more independently.
Our client requires a male support worker for
18 hours weekly, usually four 4.5-hour support sessions Mondays to Fridays
(days and times to be mutually agreed with the client and his team), paying
13.00 to 16.00 per hour
dependent on experience. Access to your own vehicle is essential to facilitate community visits with our client. Candidates seeking sponsorship need not apply.
The ideal rehabilitation support worker should be a resilient, reliable, and experienced ABI/TBI support worker who demonstrates a high standard of written and verbal communication skills, quickly builds and maintains positive working relationships, and works calmly and effectively in challenging environments.
If you are interested in working with our small, highly-focused team to empower our client to live more independently, then please forward us your CV.
