BD Group is expanding! We're looking for 3 passionate Mobile Relief Chefs to lead school kitchen teams across Barking and Dagenham. You'll step in where needed, deliver high-quality meals, support special events, and uphold food safety and hygiene standards.
Duties:
Prepare and cook meals to high standards, following menus and dietary guidelines.
Travel between school sites, adapting to different kitchen environments and equipment.
Maintain strict food hygiene and health & safety compliance, including regular cleanliness checks.
Plan menus with consideration for nutrition, student preferences, and dietary requirements.
Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and minimise waste through efficient practices.
Lead and support catering teams, providing training and ensuring smooth kitchen operations.
Assist with special events and themed days, ensuring timely and professional food service.
Engage positively with students and staff, addressing food-related queries and concerns.
Qualifications & Experience:
Culinary qualification and Food Safety & Hygiene certification (essential).
Proven chef experience, ideally in school catering, with strong food preparation skills.
Knowledge of nutritional standards, food safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Flexibility to travel between school sites and work varied hours.
Physically fit to handle demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for long periods.
Manual dexterity and coordination to operate kitchen equipment safely.
Working Arrangements:
Working pattern: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday (core hours typically range between 7 am and 3.30 pm).
Number of working weeks: 39 weeks (Annual leave to be taken during school half terms).
Location: We require Relief Chefs to cover either the Dagenham area or the Barking area - must be flexible to travel to various sites within those areas.
