Overview



We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Childcare Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and an understanding of early childhood education principles.

This role will be based at all three of our settings (Weymouth and Portland). This is a zero hours contract and shifts will vary between the hours 7.30am and 6pm covering planned staff absences (holidays) and unexpected absences (illness).

Main job purpose



To work alongside a team of Childcare Assistants and the Room Lead to provide a safe, stimulating and clean environment for the children.

To support the care, progression and learning of the children attending Allsorts by providing a high-quality childcare provision.

Duties and responsibilities



- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children in the setting.

- Undertake all aspects of childcare including personal care, help with feeding and ensuring the children in Allsorts' care are well-looked after.

- Read, implement and adhere to all policies and procedures.

- Log and keep accurate records for the setting and the children, including accident forms, safeguarding records, medication form, using company software.

- Work alongside the team to ensure the safeguarding of all of the children in the setting.

- Help to plan and implement activities whilst building a child centred approach to learning.

- Ensure confidentiality within the setting is maintained at all times.

- Attend team meetings and in-house training some of which are outside of normal working hours.

- Any lesser or comparable duties as required.

NB: The duties and responsibilities of this post are not restrictive and the post holder may be required on occasion to undertake other duties. This will not substantially change the nature of the post.

Contacts and relationships



- Build good relationships with parents and the provision of information for them.

- Report any areas for concern to the Room Lead and/or Directors.

Essential for the role:



A interest in working with young children and the desire to further their development and learning. Must be highly motivated and enthusiastic with a flexible and supportive approach to working with children. Commitment to working in an anti-discriminatory manner with an outlook of equality of opportunity for all. A commitment to quality in all areas and the ability to use initiative to enhance the position Have a working knowledge of safeguarding children
