Job Description

We're looking for a practical, dependable person to join us as a Relief Handyman / Gardener, helping to keep our buildings and outdoor spaces safe, tidy and well cared for.



This is a hands-on role supporting services when cover is needed, whether that's fixing a loose hinge, cutting the grass, or clearing leaves from a walkway. You'll be working as part of a team that takes pride in making sure our environments are safe, comfortable and welcoming for the people we support.

What you'll be doing:

General gardening including grass cutting, weeding, pruning and seasonal upkeep Clearing driveways and paths of snow, ice and leaves Basic repairs and maintenance tasks such as painting, replacing fixtures or minor joinery Reporting any larger repair or safety concerns to the manager Moving furniture and equipment when needed Keeping accurate records of maintenance tasks Following health and safety procedures, including COSHH guidance

What we're looking for:

You'll be someone who takes initiative, works safely and can turn your hand to a variety of practical tasks. You don't need to be trade-qualified, but previous experience in maintenance, gardening or construction would be helpful.



A driving licence would be useful, but it's not essential. What matters most is your reliability and a willingness to get stuck in.

You'll also need:

Basic IT skills for completing e-learning and maintenance logs An understanding of health and safety procedures (or a willingness to learn) To be a member of the PVG Scheme or willing to join

This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
