Pay: 15.19 hourly rate

Join our team at Birmingham Airport as a High Lift Driver, playing a crucial role to operate the Ambi lift & minibuses on the airfield, transferring passengers with reduced mobility to and from aircraft to the terminal building Drive the company Ambi lifts ensuring that the vehicle is always safe and secure. Deliver to or collect the passengers from the aircraft door and assist with the transfer into their seat or wheelchair through safe manual handling techniques. Carry out Customer Care Agent/Ambi lift of Minibus Driver duties as directed by the Operational Management Team.




About the Role:





As a High Lift Driver, you will be responsible for:


The Vehicles range from Minibuses to Class 2 rigid heavy good type vehicles, the capacity of the vehicles will range from 6 seats up to 20 seats. You will also be required to assist PRM's onto the aircraft, to their seat or into other vehicles or terminal buildings which involves passenger and manual handling techniques. You will be trained as a customer care agent for all terminal duties and as a specialist driver. To organize the most efficient and effective way of transporting several PRM's (plus one of their companions) to the various aircraft, ensuring on time departures. To co-ordinate the boarding / disembarkation of PRM's onto / off the aircraft from your vehicle or air bridge, liaising with the aircraft dispatcher and cabin crew to ensure smooth passage. Overall responsibility for the use of all aspects of the Ambi lift vehicle including the tail lift and front platform and their controls. Driving of minibus and terminal buggies when required. Marshalling of vehicles when required.

What we are looking for:




Demonstrate excellent customer service. Hold excellent written communication and interpersonal skills. Be able to work both day and night shifts. Flexibility is required Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure. Be physically able to carry out duties.

Qualifications and Licenses:





Full Driving License is essential with category B (Licence must have been held for 2 years)



Experience of driving large goods vehicles



You must be able to obtain an airside driving permit (including passing a driving medical with a colour-blind test.


Desirable for the role:




Able to speak another language HGV Licence Airside Experience
