Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people in residential care? Newport City Council offers an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated Residential Services team as a Relief Residential Childcare Worker.



We are seeking committed, compassionate, and motivated individuals who share our values and are eager to support children and young people in a nurturing and stimulating environment. This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role that allows you to play a key part in helping our children reach their full potential.



We are currently recruiting relief staff to work flexibly across all our residential homes. The role offers a variety of shifts$uincluding days, nights, and sleep-ins$ubased on the needs of the service. As we operate a 24/7, 365-days-a-year service, availability to work weekends and bank holidays is essential.



While previous experience in residential care is desirable, it is not essential. We welcome individuals from a range of backgrounds with transferable skills and a willingness to learn. In return, we offer a comprehensive induction and training package, including support to achieve a Level 3 qualification in Working with Children and Young People (if not already held).



We are committed to a trauma-informed and attachment-focused approach to care. You will receive ongoing training and support to develop the skills necessary to form positive, therapeutic relationships that can have a lasting impact on a young person's life.



Training is a vital part of the role and includes both face-to-face and online sessions. Some training may take place during weekdays, and attendance is mandatory to ensure the highest standards of care for our children.
