Relief Staff Trainee Childcare Practitioner

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and motivated team player to join Laurencekirk Out of School Club, preferably with childcare experience and qualified to SCQF Level 7, but not essential.

Your job would entail the following;

To work and participate as an active member of the LOOSC team, demonstrating initiative, creativity and team work. To maintain a positive and "can do" attitude and work ethic. To foster an environment which encourages the children's all-round development, participate in providing, delivering and maintaining government set care standards and providing continuous and high standards of care whilst supporting positive relationships with children and their families.

Main Responsibilities and Duties



- Ensuring children are supervised by an adult at all times.

- Register with SSSC, complete regular/continuous training in accordance with SSSC requirements and record this.

- Be a reliable member of the team, working co-operatively and with flexibility.

- To be aware of each child's medical, dietary or additional needs.

- To prepare and supervise children's snack.

- Observe each child's progress and report on achievements, looking for progressions and continuity.

- Develop excellent communication with parents/carers, respecting the individual needs of each family.

- Assist and participate with the planning of activity programs, ensuring they are age appropriate and safe.

- To participate in creating and developing an attractive, secure, safe and stimulating environment for all children booked into each session.

- Understand each child as an individual, having a general understanding of childcare and child development. Participate with contributing to children's care plans etc.

- Participate actively in LOOSC projects and special events.

- To assist with developing good communication with all team members.

- Respect the Manager's discretion with decision making.

Personnel



- To attend and play an active part in staff meetings and training sessions.

- Participate in all self-development activities, including appraisals and training.

- Develop positive relationships with all staff within the team.

- To assist as required in the training of new staff.

Health and Safety



- To work in accordance with all LOOSC policies and procedures, with special reference to health and safety, and conforming to the established risk assessments.

- Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety, hygiene and cleanliness of the children and club at all time, adhering to the cleaning duty rota and checklist including checking and signing the daily environmental checklist.

- Operate to the highest standard of hygiene when preparing food. Recording food temperatures and fridge temperatures.

- Be familiar with all emergency and security procedures, e.g. emergency evacuation procedure, drop off, signing in and out procedure, password system, children's medication, children's medical needs, child protection system etc. Ensure these systems are followed and implemented correctly.

- Assist with the care, maintenance and security of all LOOSC equipment. Remove and report any broken or unsafe equipment within the club immediately.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 7.55-12.21 per hour
