Relief shifts cover a variety of areas - Caerphilly, Torfaen, Newport, Blaenau Gwent and Monmoutshire.


Purpose of the post:

To provide specialist support to women and children accessing a variety of refuge services in Gwent who are affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) and who may have multiple disadvantages.


To contribute to creating an exemplary and inclusive support and accommodation service, which recognises that women and families have multiple disadvantages, trauma, strengths and unique needs.


Responsibilities




To be responsible for delivering specialist Domestic Abuse support services to women and children living independently and in refuges. Carry out risk assessments and initial needs assessments to determine what level of service is appropriate. Ensure that client's needs are assessed regularly, and support plans are in place and being adhered to. Ensure that services are available for and meet the needs of minority women. Admit new residents into refuge and completion of relevant paperwork. Ensure that accurate paper and electronic records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service Enable clients to apply for, maintain and maximise benefits and manage other financial issues. Support clients to access health, legal and housing services. Support clients to maintain licence agreement and help them prepare for independent living. To be fully aware of the child and adult protection policy and procedures and report to line manager any concerns in this area. To act as an advocate on behalf of clients encouraging and supporting self-advocacy as appropriate. Encourage clients to participate in all areas of their service provision and communal living Work alongside colleagues to ensure the smooth running of all our support services. Premises and Housing Management (if assigned to Refuge)*
To work jointly with the Refuge Team Leader to ensure the safe and effective management of our refuges. To take part in housing management tasks as required i.e., room cleaning and preparation, managing breaches of licence and reporting any maintenance issues Facilitate house meetings in refuge as required. To adhere to health and safety policy and report any risks/concerns to the Refuge Team Leader, taking immediate steps where necessary to protect health and wellbeing of residents, team members and members of the public.

To actively work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to achieve better outcomes for women and children affected by VAWDASV. Participate in team meetings, supervision and appropriate training. To work within the organisations Policies and Procedures at all times. Any other reasonable duties as required.
