About the Role
A welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Herefordshire is seeking a passionate and reflective Teacher of Religious Education to join its Humanities faculty from January 2026. This full-time, permanent role is an excellent opportunity for an Early Career Teacher who values curiosity, inclusion and moral reflection as central parts of learning.
You'll teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 within a department that places discussion, empathy and academic rigour at the heart of its curriculum. The school's RE provision encourages students to explore worldviews, faiths and ethical questions in a way that broadens understanding and promotes respect.
The Department and Support
The RE department is collaborative, supportive and proud of the contribution it makes to the school's ethos. Colleagues work closely together to share planning and best practice, with regular opportunities for reflection and professional dialogue. As an ECT, you'll receive structured mentoring, protected non-contact time and regular CPD sessions tailored to developing strong, confident teaching.
Lessons are well-resourced and varied, blending discussion-based learning with creative projects and independent enquiry. The department regularly organises guest talks, themed days and visits to places of worship to deepen cultural understanding and bring the subject to life.
About You
You'll bring enthusiasm, strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for helping young people think critically about values, ethics and belief. This role would suit a teacher who enjoys fostering open discussion and helping students develop moral awareness alongside academic skill. You'll be reflective, approachable and keen to grow within a school that prioritises collaboration and care.
About the School
This large, inclusive 11-16 school combines a strong Christian ethos with a modern, outward-looking approach to education. Students are respectful, well-motivated and proud of their school community, while staff enjoy a supportive and collegial atmosphere. The school maintains excellent academic standards, underpinned by kindness, respect and integrity.
Facilities include bright, well-equipped classrooms, strong digital provision and a dedicated Humanities area. Staff benefit from professional development opportunities, strong leadership support and a culture that values wellbeing and shared purpose.
What's on Offer
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary, full ECT induction and access to high-quality training through local and trust networks. The school offers a nurturing environment where new teachers are guided and encouraged to develop confidence, creativity and professional independence.
