Job Description

We are currently offering an excellent opportunity for a Remote Operating System Operative to join our team in Stanford-Le-Hope. The goal of the position is to operate Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) via remote control consoles, which are supported by cameras and video equipment. The goal is to maintain an efficient operation of the ASCs to ensure customer service KPIs are met while adhering to company standards, policies, and procedures.


This role works a 12-hour day and night shift, on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (Covering both weekdays and weekends)


About The Role


How will you contribute:


Remotely operate ASCs from an office, in circumstances that prevent the ASC from operating in automated mode including:

o Loading containers on trucks and terminal chassis on landside interchange zones.


o Unloading containers from trucks and terminal chassis on landside interchange zones.


o Driving to or out of the maintenance position.


o Picking and grounding operations in automatic mode can also be done remotely.


o Checking height of container stacks and container ID's.
Remotely operate ASC's during the final landing phase of containers onto vehicles when required. Use the Terminal operating systems, monitor the shipside and landside operations Work closely with other operational staff to meet the requirements of the port Communicate through voice radio, answering all incoming calls from operators and others, accurately and promptly resolving problems. Be fully flexible in the duties carried out within the Control Room Have a thorough knowledge of the Company's operating procedures for Control and Terminal.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:




Minimum educational level: GCSE Maths & English Grade C + or equivalent Tertiary educational level or military training an advantage. Experience within a similar role or operating an RC desk is preferred. Experience working with an operational, industrial or port industry related role. Demonstratable experience dealing with external customers either face to face or over the phone is essential. Good IT skills, with experience working on systems and use of all Microsoft applications. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Experience with radio communications would be advantageous. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work under sustained pressure. Good organisational skills with attention to detail. Can do attitude with the willingness to learn and develop within the role Ability to maintain high levels of concentration at all times. Flexibility with the ability to work additional hours when necessary. NOTE: All our roles are subject to the below:

A full valid UK driving licence or appropriate international licence allowing
you to drive on UK roads.


Due to manufacturing guidelines on equipment and site safety critical health
and safety requirements, we have strict weight and medical requirements


that need to be met and maintained. For our safety critical roles health and


medical and fitness checks are performed. Requirements include, but are not


limited to, weight, height, blood pressure and hearing.
