And there's no feeling like helping people create the joy of feeling truly at home. At Dunelm, that's what we do. We're the UK's number one choice for homewares because we make home life lovelier for our customers. And we've crafted a workplace that feels just as welcoming - where you can bring your ideas, be yourself, and feel right at home.
We're on a mission to make every Dunelm store feel like home, warm, welcoming, and easy to shop. Our Store Experience team is at the heart of this, shaping everything from the layout of our cosy small stores to the flow of our bustling superstores.
What do we do?
Think of us as the people who make shopping simple and enjoyable. We design store formats, plan layouts, create planograms, and make sure our signage and POS are spot-on. But we don't work in a bubble, we partner with Marketing, Store Ops, Commercial, Finance, and more to keep the whole experience seamless for our customers.
Why does it matter?
Because a great store experience means happy customers, and happy customers keep coming back. Whether it's tweaking a layout or launching a whole new department format, we're always looking for ways to make our stores better. Fixtures, fittings, flow, we're all over it.
What's next?
We keep an eye on what's happening in the industry too, from clever product displays to sustainability initiatives, so we're always ahead of the curve.
If you love the idea of creating spaces that feel good and work brilliantly, and you're ready to add something new to our culture, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
The purpose of the role is to deliver Dunelm's Renewals activity to the agreed standards, on time and within budget. You'll make sure everything runs smoothly and looks great, and you'll work closely with key business partners to make it happen. Here's what that includes:
Deliver all Renewals activity (G1s and G2s) and New Stores to the required standard, within costs, budgets, and timelines, partnering with the right teams to achieve success.
Continually review ways of working, critical paths, and processes to keep things efficient, productive, and cost-effective, while driving sales.
Be a key voice in the planning stage of all Renewals, providing input that helps shape the right outcome.
Represent the team in working and steering groups, sharing ideas and updates to keep everyone aligned.
Partner with ME and Format teams to find innovative ways to improve sales, deliver our customer proposition, and support commercial and digital strategies.
Work with the Projects Lead to ensure macro and micro space planning is as productive as possible, meets commercial goals, and is implemented consistently across current and future programmes.
Lead the team to maintain compliance and keep training up to date, covering everything from industry standards and health and safety to format development.
Visit projects regularly to support Project Managers and deliver structured, consistent reviews.
Develop a "Renewal ready" process to help decide when and where to invest in store activity.
Schedule and lead post-renewal reviews (PIRs), summarising findings for key stakeholders.
What we'll look for in you
You'll ideally have hands-on experience with new store openings and renewals programmes, along with a solid understanding of processes, critical paths, and ways of working.
As a Senior Manager, you'll make sure everything in the role summary is delivered to a high standard. You'll keep your team engaged and developing by holding regular one-to-ones, and you'll share feedback with other functional leads to keep everyone moving forward.
You'll provide regular updates to the Head of In-Store Experience through agreed one-to-ones and quarterly reviews of objectives. Being a functional expert is key, so you can lead effectively, partner across multiple functions, and bring outstanding knowledge of the industry and retail development.
The role covers stores across the Dunelm estate, so nationwide travel is essential.
As the Senior Manager of an influential function, you'll need to demonstrate leadership behaviours aligned to our core values. You'll be a strong communicator and presenter, confident speaking to all levels, including Exec and DLT members.
You'll also need to manage budgets effectively and have strong knowledge of Office applications.
A high level of emotional intelligence is important, as you'll work across multiple departments with different priorities. The ability to reason, influence, and keep everyone aligned is essential.
Finally, we're looking for someone with a positive, can-do approach. You'll act like an owner, make decisions confidently, be innovative, and always put the customer first.
