X1 Sales and Lettings in Media City are looking to recruit a Rental Arrears Collection Officer to join our Media City Branch, with an immediate start on a 12 month fixed term contract.

Your Role with us:



Role Overview:




The Rental Arrears Collections Officer will be responsible for proactively managing tenant rent arrears, maintaining clear communication with tenants, and taking appropriate steps to recover outstanding rent. This role requires excellent negotiation and communication skills, a strong understanding of lettings and property management processes, and a firm but fair approach to debt collection.

Key Responsibilities:



Monitor rent payments and identify tenants in arrears Contact tenants promptly via phone, email, and letter regarding outstanding payments Maintain accurate records of all communications and payment plans Negotiate and set up realistic and sustainable repayment plans Liaise with landlords regarding arrears and proposed actions Work with the property management team to resolve any underlying issues contributing to arrears Issue relevant notices (e.g., Section 8 or Section 21) where appropriate Assist with preparation for legal action or court proceedings when necessary Keep up to date with relevant legislation including the Housing Act, debt recovery laws, and eviction processes Provide regular arrears reports to senior management Support in developing internal processes to improve arrears management

Skills and Experience:



Essential:



Experience in rent collections, debt recovery, or credit control (preferably within the property or lettings sector) Strong communication and negotiation skills Confident working with sensitive situations and managing conflict High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records Knowledge of UK lettings regulations and eviction procedures

Desirable:



Experience within a lettings agency or property management company Understanding of the Section 8 and Section 21 notice process Knowledge of tenancy deposit schemes and landlord-tenant legislation Proficient in Microsoft Office and property management systems (e.g., Reapit) Full, clean UK driving license
