Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Research Administrative Assistant to join the Faculty of Business & Law this coming academic year.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a part-time, fixed-term Research Assistant and contribute to the UK's first-ever longitudinal survey of future doctors.
If you are a currently registered as a student within a medical school in the UK, or a member of staff at a UK medical school, you are invited to join our team of survey champions and apply for this exciting post that will help the mental wellbeing of our future doctors.
As Research Administrative Assistant your main duties will include:

  • Promoting the survey to your fellow medical students and acting as survey champion in order to boost the response rate,
  • Visiting classrooms within medical schools in your region (after obtaining permission), displaying posters on campuses, and sharing the QR code linking to the survey through spaces on campuses,
  • Promoting the survey on social media by creatively and comprehensively working with different networks of medical students.
To succeed as Research Administrative Assistant:
  • This opportunity builds on previous experience working in jobs or activities (e.g. hobbies, volunteering, being a student rep, or member of a student society) which prove you are a reliable person who is comfortable with public speaking and social networking,
  • You will have proven experience of being active on major social media platforms,
  • To enable you to travel between medical schools in your region, you'll have your own transport and you'll cover your own travel expenses (though a generous salary is provided to cover your budget),
  • You will be registered as a student within a medical school in the United Kingdom (UK), or a current member of staff at a UK medical school.
The working hours will be flexibly arranged to fit within your study commitments.

Salary:
Actual 16.79 per hour, Grade 3 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.
Contract:
Fixed-term October 2025 to 30 June 2026, part-time - 23 hours in total across the length of contract (including 3 hours' holiday pay). The survey begins October 2025, so working hours will concentrate in Autumn 2025. Your working hours and tasks will be timed flexibly to fit within your study commitments.
