Due to unprecedented success, we are seeking an experienced Research and Development Engineer to join our well established design team, creating new products and improving existing products to satisfy our customers and seek to continuously improve both the Company's products and processes. Training and development, plus further career opportunities are available for the right candidate.
KEY TASKS:
The creation of new products and improvements of existing product. This is from concept to finished product into production
Information gathering at the initial stages of projects to create product design specification and maintaining accurate project information throughout design process
The creation of BOM and product costing
Work with life safety EN product standards, to gain classification and CE marking
Prototype testing (both in-house and external) and documenting reports. Incorporating of test/certificate/reports into BSB certification/literature liaising with QA
In line with the needs of the engineering schedule produce high-quality, detailed, production ready manufacturing drawings
Continuously seek to improve the design processes to ensure efficiency and flexibility
Liaise with production to assist in the manufacture of product, providing any required information
Ensure that the processes within your control adhere to relevant products standards
Provide technical information and assist in the configuration of the companies ERP system
Provide practical advice & guidance on all R&D related activities
Acting as a champion for the department and use motivational skills to 'make it happen' with production personnel
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED WITHIN ROLE:
Ideally, at least 2 years conceptual design experience obtained in a similar field
Minimum of 3 years relevant industry or transferrable industry experience
Relevant educational background
Experience of 3D CAD packages (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 packages
Experience working with sheet metal preferred
Ability to interpret technical drawings
Have the acumen to work with technical information/data and EN standards.
A 'can do' flexible attitude, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
