We are currently looking for a Research and Development Supervisor to join our market leading Apex team.

In a nutshell, you will be busy .......

Delivering scientific and innovative solutions to industry challenges through the effective supervision of the APEX facility and R&D assistants. Support in daily facility activities, ensuring high quality data and outputs are generated, as well as deputising for the R&D manager.

On a daily basis you will be :

Supervising R&D assistants within the APEX team, including delegation of daily activities, organising rota and annual leave, and monitoring of work.

Provide support in project delivery and across all daily activities within the facility as required, including preparation of flowers, assessment of samples and facility maintenance for example.

Oversee undertaking of critical processes such as database maintenance, photographs, and ordering equipment and consumables, for example.

Ensure all team members have received and remain up to date on necessary training (e.g. COSHH), and support the R&D manager in the development, training and appraisal process for R&D assistants.

Liaise with MM Flowers team and growers to ensure that all samples are scheduled and received correctly.

Monitoring and reporting on team and facility performance metrics.

Regular reporting to the R&D manager of performance of different cultivars, species and farms.

Support in generating regular reports for key APEX customers (internally and externally).

Cover for R&D manager's responsibilities in their absence.

Effectively supervise and motivate a team.

Able to work independently and within a small team that depends on one another to complete daily tasks.

Excellent organisational and planning skills.

Time efficient problem solving and analytical skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

Carry out tasks to completion within criteria given.

Strong IT literacy, with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office.

A keen eye for detail.
