The University of Strathclyde invites applications for a
five-month Research Assistant position
to support a PSDI-funded project aimed at generating a benchmark dataset of excited-state properties for organic semiconductor molecules. This work will directly contribute to advancing open science in computational chemistry and materials science.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-level quantum chemical calculations (e.g. CASSCF, NEVPT2, ...) on high-performance computing systems, curating datasets in line with FAIR data standards, and developing reproducible computational workflows. The role will also involve preparing datasets and documentation for open publication, maintaining project repositories (e.g. GitHub), and contributing to dissemination activities and publications.
We are seeking candidates with a postgraduate qualification (MSc/PhD) in Computational Chemistry, Theoretical Chemistry, Physics, or a related field. Experience with quantum chemical methods and high-performance computing is essential, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Evidence of contributions to open science (such as GitHub repositories or published datasets) would be an advantage.
