Research Assistant Ireland Border Culture Project



Job description

Ireland\xe2\x80\x99s Border Culture\xe2\x80\x99 seeks an enthusiastic Research Assistant to work under the directorship of Professor Eve Patten (Long Room Hub TCD) and Dr Garrett Carr, (Seamus Heaney Centre at QUB) to write an appendix to the Ireland\'s Border Culture website looking at how government policy has shaped, fostered or impeded cultural expression on Ireland\'s border. The project is funded under the HEA North-South Research Programme 2021, to research and create an annotated digital archive of literary and visual art representations of Ireland\xe2\x80\x99s border culture, 1921 \xe2\x80\x93 2021.


The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:
  • Honours degree in a subject / discipline relevant to research activity
  • Ability to outline a research project
  • Practical experience, using a range of research methods, to analyse, conduct critical evaluations, and interpretate a range of data sources
  • Sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge of the key areas of border related research i.e. geographical, cultural and socio-political
  • Experience in developing web content.

This post is fixed term for 7 months, commencing 1 December 2023. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
