The mission of the Research Department of Epilepsy (DoE) is to transform the lives of people living with epilepsy for the better by identifying, understanding, and correcting or preventing the underlying mechanisms leading to the epilepsies and associated comorbidities in each individual person. Our vision is to build upon the excellence and breadth of our research, seamlessly integrating basic and clinical science.
The Experimental Epilepsy Group's research spans across fundamental mechanisms of vesicle fusion and synaptic transmission, ion channel biology, experimental models of epilepsy, the function of neural circuits, and neurological diseases modelled in rodents and flies.
About the role
------------------
The successful candidate will use immunohistology and molecular biology techniques in human models of neurological diseases. The project is funded by the GOSH Charity programme of research aimed at developing therapies for childhood diseases.
The role is available from November 2025 and funded by GOSH to 31 May 2026 in the first instance.

About you
-------------
You will have an MSc in Neuroscience or related discipline and experience of IPSC-derived neurons/organoids as therapeutic models. Experience with immunohistochemical charactersation of IPSC-derived neurons, with advanced molecular biology methods including gene expression assays and of neurological disease modelling is also a requirement. Experience in establishing and developing novel human models for neurological diseases is desirable.
