An exciting opportunity has arisen in the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Mental Health, based within the Division of Psychiatry at UCL. The successful applicant will join a team of researchers conducting a variety of rapid research commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Care, designed to inform policy-making for adult's and young people's mental health services.



The UCL Division of Psychiatry, located within the Faculty of Brain Sciences, is a world-renowned centre of excellence in mental health research. Our mission is to improve mental health through cutting-edge research and education. By leveraging insights from basic science, we address clinical problems with the aim of improving patient outcomes and public health. Moreover, we take pride in delivering innovative teaching that is directly relevant to clinical practice and informed by our research. About the role

This post will involve working with support to contribute to designing research projects, including writing protocols and study materials. It is likely to involve data collection and analysis using qualitative and quantitative methods and conducting systematic and realist literature reviews. The post will involve working with senior and junior research colleagues and a team of lived experience researchers, and working directly with policy-makers to shape projects.





Appointment details:


+ The post is graded on the non-clinical research staff Pay Scale Grade 6b, the annual salary for which ranges from 39,148 to 41,833 per annum (including London Allowance).
+ The appointment is available immediately and is funded for 18 months in the first instance.
+ Any offer of employment will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

About you

You will bring some experience of conducting high quality research, ideally using both qualitative and quantitative methods. An understanding of how to conduct systematic literature reviews is desirable. An understanding on mental health service structures and systems in England and the national health policy context are advantages for this post. We welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental health problems, which is relevant experience for this post.
