Job Description

Applications are sought for a committed Research Assistant to work with Regina Bispo conducting research for a UKRI EPSRC funded project entitled Strategic Response Toolkit for Wildfires Prediction. The primary duties will be to:


Design and implement a web-based dashboard that integrates a wildfire forecasting model Collaborate with researchers to integrate a spatiotemporal forecasting model into the dashboard. Ensure the interface is intuitive and accessible to non-technical end users, particularly fire management authorities. Create dynamic visualizations (e.g., risk maps, alerts) to clearly communicate prediction outcomes. Participate in regular coordination meetings to incorporate feed Conduct thorough testing to ensure tool reliability, usability, and robustness under different scenarios. Support the facilitation of a final workshop aimed at training end users and promoting adoption of the tool in operational wildfire management. Maintain effective communication with the project team, providing regular updates on development progress and technical decisions. Collaborate in writing up research work for publication and/or present the work at conferences, seminars and workshops. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements including equality and diversity, data protection, copyright and licensing, security, financial, health and safety and other University policies, procedures and codes as appropriate.

The post is available for 8 months (from Sept to April part-time) or 4 months (Dec to March full-time)
