The LMCB opened in 1993 as one of the first centres dedicated to molecular cell biology in the UK. The research department has a strong international reputation for research excellence, with staff and PhD students working together to understand the fundamental principles of cell biology relevant to human disease. The LMCB has specialist in-house state-of-the-art science technology platforms, which include Light, Super Resolution and Electron Microscopy imaging, as well as a world leading High Content Biology Facility. In addition, the research department is a partner in the UCL-Zeiss Multiscale Imaging Centre shared with other Faculties in UCL. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Stromal Immunology Lab led by Professor Sophie Acton. The Stromal immunology lab is funded by Cancer Research UK and the Wellcome Trust to investigate stromal/immune crosstalk mechanisms and functions in inflammation and tumour progression.
About the role

We are looking to recruit a part-time, grade 7 research fellow to support projects investigating the development of the tumour microenvironment. Research questions are focused on the formation and function of tertiary lymphoid structures. Research projects are conducted as part of a team, working closely with other research fellows, research assistants and PhD students to deliver the project goals. o This is a fixed-term role for 2 years o This is a part-time role 0.5 FTE o Research Fellows - 'Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B (salary 37,332 - 39,980 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.' o This appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff. About you

The successful candidate will be part of the Stromal Immunology Laboratory led by Professor Sophie Acton at the LMCB, University College London. The candidate should possess: o a PhD in a relevant biomedical discipline. o a good knowledge of immunology and cancer biology. o an extensive knowledge of research techniques and methodologies related to molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and tissue biology o experience in data analysis (e.g. bioinformatics, image analysis) o a good research track with a record of high-quality publications, collaborations, and other contributions to the scientific community o experience of leading and managing a research project o ability to demonstrate a deep knowledge of own research background and to effectively communicate research achievements to a specialist and to a lay audience o willingness to contribute to a supportive and collaborative environment among team members and to advocate for and promote an endeavour of equality, diversity, and inclusion among colleagues and other LMCB members.
