The UCL Division of Surgery and Interventional Science, within the Faculty of Medical Sciences, is a collaborative and cross-disciplinary environment where clinicians, engineers, allied health professionals and researchers are constantly striving for innovative approaches to treatment. About the role


------------------


The post is a partnership between University College London (UCL), The Concussion Foundation (CF) and the International Concussion and Head Injury Research Foundation (ICHIRF).



The post will be based at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH) on UCL's Bloomsbury campus, under the Faculty of Medical Sciences. You will work in close collaboration with the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (ICN), part of the faculty of Brain Sciences, and with UCL Engineering.



We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to conduct in-depth analysis of the MRI and fMRI data in line with the other available markers to identify potential detriments to neurological health in injured athletes. There is an expectation for the postdoctoral researcher to be independent in their analysis of the MRI data, and for them to write up the results as multiple academic papers.

This is a full-time, fixed-term role for 12 months in the first instance Salary will be 44,480per annum inclusive of London Allowance

About you

The post holder will have the following:



Essential:


Higher academic degree e.g. PhD, or evidence of an equivalent level of attainment in research publications A track record of scholarly publication and contribution to conferences in the field of cognitive neuroscience, physical activity, data science, engineering, brain imaging or related fields. Expertise in analysing MRI and fMRI Brain imagingGood organisational skills and attention to detail Experience in data analytics, statistical analysis and in programming (such as MatLab, R, Python) Ability to write papers for high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking responsibility for setting and meeting targets

Desirable:


Post-doctoral research experience in academia or industry Experience of working with diverse stakeholders, including external collaborators A track record of grant income from research councils, charities, industry, etc
