Research Fellow (Systematic reviews)





This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding systematic reviewer to join the team to generate key evidence to support the development of a clinical trial to help patients living with heart failure.



We have obtained funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research to generate the evidence needed to underpin the design of a multi-arm, multi-stage (MAMS) randomised trial to help us determine the best treatment to support patients with heart failure when they are admitted to hospital with congestion.



We are looking for an outstanding researcher who has experience of conducting and publishing systematic reviews, delivering research that impacts policy and who has a positive a collegiate attitude. The successful candidate will have completed their doctorate and will have a demonstrable capacity to publish their research.



The study team will be conducting rapid reviews of a range of candidate drug treatments and an umbrella review of the long-term safety of the proposed adjunctive therapies. The findings of the reviews will be considered by an expert panel to allow them to make recommendations for the trial design. The post holder will be responsible for leading the umbrella review, with support from the clinical and academic partners, including developing the search strategy, leading the screening, data extraction and write up. Clinical input to the review will be provided by the clinical Chief investigator Dr Joe Cuthbert and methods input will be provided by co-Chief investigator, Dr Maureen Twiddy. The postholder will support the smooth running of the study and ensure timelines are met.

Essential Selection Criteria:




A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field e.g. medical sciences, statistics or substantial relevant experience Specialist knowledge and experience of review methodologies including an understanding of the principles of evidence-based research, literature searches, critical appraisal, and evidence synthesis. Publication of multiple systematic reviews, with responsibility for data extraction and synthesis. Experience using COVIDENCE * Proficient IT skills in Endnote and RevMan
