We are recruiting for a Research Nurse to provide specialist research and clinical care to research participants. You will also be assisting in the management, coordination and implementation of research programmes within the practice.
The Ideal candidate will provide a high standard of clinical and research nursing care within a multi-professional general practice team. You will act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights are always protected, and receive patients and their relatives in a calm, courteous and reassuring manner, providing information and support throughout their research journey.
As a research nurse within the practice, it is essential that you have the qualifications, skills and experience in managing one or more long-term health conditions or have a willingness to work towards gaining these skills.
Responsibilities
To be responsible for the implementation of processes for the effective management of patients with long-term conditions using evidence-based practice to include but not limited to care for elderly and housebound patients.
Working as a senior member of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will ensure nursing services are delivered effectively to the entitled patient population.
The Practice Nurse will be responsible for several clinical areas such as infection prevention and control, health promotion, chronic disease management, health promotion, well women and well man clinics, as well as actively supporting the practice management team in the reviewing and delivery of clinical policy and procedure.
This organisation must ensure that the post holder has access to appropriate clinical supervision and an appropriate named individual in the organisation to provide general advice and support on a day-to-day basis.
To receive patients and their relatives in a calm, courteous and reassuring manner, providing information and support throughout their research journey.
Liaise with Research Study monitors to assist with internal and external Quality Assurance and Audit.
To oversee the provision of chronic disease clinics, delivering patient care as necessary, referring patients to secondary/specialist care as required.
Assume responsibility for specific research studies as delegated by the Principal Investigator. This will include ensuring the safe administration of treatments and managing a caseload of patients who have consented to participate in certain studies.
Participate in audits, evaluations and benchmarking exercises and suggest any changes to improve standards and increase funding.
Skills
Proficient in providing high-quality patient care with a focus on safety and comfort.
Strong knowledge of human anatomy, enabling effective assessments and interventions.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear interaction with patients and team members.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for accurate data management.
