The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint a Research Office Assistant to provide administrative support to the Research Office within a large academic science department with over 200 staff, including academics, researchers and students.
You will be responsible for the co-ordination and planning of conferences, workshops, training, and other events and meetings to support the promotion of research activity and opportunities within the school.
You will be required to develop, update and maintain information through various media platforms including webpages, social media and email ensuring accuracy, relevance and timeliness of information.
You will join an established research team within a large and busy department, and you will need to be flexible and organised to manage a varied workload.
Work Location
Due to the nature of this role, it is expected that the post holder will work a
minimum of 80%
of their working hours onsite, at the School of Engineering.
Additional on-campus working will be required to support research workshops, seminars, events, and at other key times.
About You
We are looking for someone with experience of dealing with administrative processes within a busy working office or customer focused environment, ideally within higher education.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills and the flexibility to manage a large volume of tasks such as room booking, catering booking and minute taking to support conference events and meetings within a deadline.
You will have strong IT skills and the ability to quickly and efficiently learn bespoke software packages to provide support for research events and projects by updating webpages, social media and email with new and relevant content.
Your excellent communication skills will ensure you are capable of respectfully dealing with staff, students and external stakeholders at all levels whilst demonstrating resourcefulness and self-motivation.
