The University of Bristol are recruiting a Research Technician to join a team, led by Dr. Giulia Bigotti within the group of Prof. Massimo Caputo, based at Bristol Heart Institute (BHI), which is situated in Bristol Royal Infirmary. The BHI offers state of the art facilities and a multidisciplinary team approach to cardiovascular research.
What will you be doing?

The Research Technician will give support to a BHF funded project investigating the use of a new drug (Agrin) in helping hearts to recover following a heart attack. The post-holder will assist with in vivo work in rats (cardiac surgery and echocardiography) and will also be involved in performing laboratory analysis of samples using standard histological and molecular techniques. Some general lab management will also be required (e.g. maintaining stocks of consumables).

Applicants should have a keen interest in cardiovascular research and be driven to gain experience in performing a variety of techniques. The role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently at times. Holding a Home Office Personal Licence (PIL) is desirable but not essential.
