This new full-time post is available from 1st October 2025 on a fixed term basis until 30th September 2028.

Summary of the role:

This full-time post is available from 1st October 2025 for three years, within the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy. This role will be based in the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW). The primary responsibility of the role-holder is to provide a high level of technical support to academics, researchers, and postgraduate students working with CREWW for the Ofwat-funded project Prediction and Early Detection of Algal Blooms in small inland water bodies (PEDAL), working with the principal investigator, Dr Diego Panici, and under the guidance of CREWW technical service management.

The post-holder will be responsible for fieldwork in challenging environments, setting up, maintaining and managing hydrological, meteorological, and water quality equipment, as well as water quality sampling and drone operations, with occasional laboratory work in support of colleagues. The post will be based in CREWW at the University of Exeter (Streatham Campus), and all necessary training will be provided.

The post-holder will also be required, with support from the technical manager, to maintain resources: space, equipment, and consumables; and will also support health and safety and sustainability initiatives across the CREWW laboratories.

We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and time management skills, who has experience in providing professional technical support in a research laboratory environment. You must be able to work independently, using your initiative to tackle problems, whilst also working as part of the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste team and the PEDAL project.
