We seek a highly skilled and experienced Research Technician to join Dr Danna Gifford's lab in the School of Biological Sciences, part of Microbial Evolution Research Manchester (MERMan). The position is available immediately and currently runs until 29-06-2026 (a further 6-month extension may be possible contingent on funder agreement).
The post holder will support research and laboratory maintenance activities in the field of microbial evolution involving Pseudomonas bacteria and other species. The project is to understand the evolvability of resistance to single-drug and combination antibiotic combination therapy. The post holder will have experience in key microbiological techniques, including sterile technique, microbial phenotyping (e.g. minimum inhibitory concentration assays; growth curves; spectrophotometry, flow cytometry).
This is a specialist position requiring someone capable of carrying out tasks independently and who enjoys daily technical challenges. They will also hold QCF level 6 (e.g. a bachelor's degree) in a relevant biological science subject, or QCF level 2 (e.g. GCSE's) in English, Mathematics, and at least once Science subject alongside substantial relevant experience working in a research laboratory.
