Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Doctoral College as a Postdoctoral Researcher Development Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the development of postgraduate researchers (PGRs) within a dynamic, creative, and supportive faculty environment.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting the postgraduate researcher journey, from induction to completion. Working closely with the Doctoral College Faculty Head and Deputy Head, you will:

  • Coordinate, deliver, and evaluate the Postgraduate Researcher Development Programme and induction activities, ensuring they align with Research Council, HEFCE, and QAA guidelines.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group guidance for doctoral researchers, complementing supervisory support.
  • Develop innovative training approaches, including digital and hybrid delivery, with a focus on interdisciplinary and practice-based research.
  • Support the wider doctoral research culture, including contribution to admissions, student funding, and engagement with external partners.
  • Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring an excellent PGR experience across all modes of study.
Alongside these responsibilities, you will be encouraged and supported to develop your own research profile through publications, conferences, and collaborations, with mentoring from the Doctoral College Faculty Head.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
  • Experience of supporting or teaching at postgraduate or doctoral level.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate complex programmes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to developing researcher training and support.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative research culture.
