PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 24,600 - 29,000 (a-reir uairean obrach / pro-rata) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

We are recruiting a researcher who will work across our topical daily programmes such as Naoi gu Deich and Feasgar An-diugh.
The successful individual will demonstrate creativity and passion for the delivery of stimulating content to our audience and will have meticulous planning and first-rate organisational and communicative skills.

BBC Radio nan Gaidheal is a Gaelic language station, broadcasting a diversity of programmes such as news, daily programmes, music, sport, documentaries, faith programming and arts. We have teams across Scotland with our main office being in Stornoway.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Identifying, researching and developing topical content for linear, digital and social media platforms.
  • Providing support to the production as requested by the Producer.
  • Recording and editing material on location and in the studio for a variety of platforms.
  • Contributing to the development of BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal programmes across genres.

  • Fluent in spoken and written Gaelic.
  • A passion for and in-depth knowledge of the Gaelic community and culture
  • A keen interest in current affairs, music, arts, media and lifestyle issues.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and experience in content creation.
  • Aptitude for multi-media recording and editing for radio and for social media.
  • Effective in planning and organisational skills, working to deadlines and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as on own initiative.
  • Adhere to BBC Editorial policies with regard to Media Law, Health and Safety and Safeguarding.
