About us:



Heron Lea Residential Home is a 13-bed service based in Witton, Norwich. The service has been in operation for over 20 years supporting adults aged 65 and over. The service is currently undergoing refurbishment and new ownership and we are looking for individuals with attention to detail and a dedication to their role in supporting vulnerable individuals living with dementia.

We have vacancies for Care Assistant (Bank staff) which consists of a 0-hour contact, providing you with flexibility to book shifts when available.

Principle responsibilities:



To provide the regulated 'Personal Care' in line with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards. This may include administration of medications which full training and competency assessment will be provided.
To document all interactions with residents contemporaneously (as they occur) using our electronic recording system. Handsets are available for use provided by Heron Lea Residential Home. Ability to work as part of a team and also independently. To have good understanding and empathy within the care setting and the ability to interact with the residents. To ensure that our high standards and presentation of the home are met, whilst ensuring that infection control and health and safety are paramount. Training and personal protective equipment will be provided by the company. To maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the home and to follow the cleaning schedules. To be fully aware of and ensure compliance with all the relevant policies and procedures. To fully partake in training sessions, staff meetings, resident meetings as required. To keep up to date with mandatory training requirements. To provide assistance as appropriate, should an incident occur, or emergency, seeking guidance in line with company policies. To undertake any other reasonable duties which may be requested of you. Working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety and food safety legislation. To abide by all Policies and Procedures as set out in the Staff Handbook, at all times. To read and follow this job description carefully. To follow reasonable management requests to maintain the homes safety and expected level of cleanliness. To keep the home environment safe and to escalate any concerns immediately.

Essential skills, experience and/or qualifications:



Must have previous experience of working in health and social care. Good oral communication skills. Ability to communicate with both residents/visitors and colleagues at all levels of seniority and liaise effectively. Good interpersonal and customer facing skills, able to empathise, maintain professionalism, display patience and politeness within a sometimes-pressurised environment. To maintain a courteous approach to all colleagues, even when under pressure. A conscientious, flexible and 'can do' working style, able to take the initiative. Confidence to deal with difficult situations and to know when appropriate to seek guidance from the home manager. Proven drive and enthusiasm for cleaning, with a desire to update product knowledge and skill set, where required. Good team working skills and ability to work with minimal supervision and own initiative. To understand Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Children, The Mental Capacity Act, and Person-Centred Care. Full training will be provided.
To engage with residents and provide activities and enrichment opportunities in daily working practices.
