Overall responsibility for managing a staff team and premises to deliver childcare of the highest standard laid down by the National Care Standards, or standards specified by Benesse where these are higher. This is a management position within the organisation, where strong leadership, team building, personnel development, and nurturing a positive childcare culture at Woodlands House are fundamental for success in the role.
KEY TASKS
Supporting Learning
Take an active interest in each young persons educational development and achievements.
Liase with schools and educational provisions in the interest of the young person involved.
Identify learning needs, and work with other agencies to support attainment.
Promote opportunities for formal and informal learning within and outwith the home.
Records and Reports
Produce, co-ordinate and edit reports to ensure they are delivered to a high standard.
Ensure that all records are current and accurately maintained, while also guaranteeing that reports and communications are distributed or conveyed promptly.
Make reports available to the Care Inspectorate in a timely manner and efficiently, including the Care Inspectorate Annual Returns.
Take the lead in ensuring that meetings and reviews for children and staff are conducted within the designated timeframes.
Ensure that records for workers and young people are stored and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Manage the administration of financial, payroll, and staffing matters within the house, ensuring all tasks are completed within the specified timeframes.
Practice and Framework
Stay informed about the latest developments in childcare practices, research, and relevant policies and legislation pertaining to the role.
Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing training and professional development, participating in or leading in-house training when appropriate.
Continuously enhance person performance and skills related to the role, setting yearly development goals and engaging in the performance appraisal process.
Complete appropriate registration with the SSSC within six months of starting the position, if not already registered. Carry out ddditional reasonable duties as assigned by the line manager to support service needs.
Be flexible and willing to work some shifts, including evenings and weekends, to be aware of and participating in practice. Hold a full UK drivers license.

A relevant qualification in social work / social care.

SVQ 4/SQF Level 9 Children and Young People and HNC/Academic equivalent qualification that meets SSSC requirements.
SVQ 4/SQF Level 9 Leadership & Management or equivalent.
Management (PDA, CCSM) or working towards these.
Professional Care qualification (BA Hons Social Care, CMS, CQSE, PDA).
Appropriate registration with the SSSC or other relevant regulatory body.

Essential
Substantial previous experience of working with children and young people with emotional & behavioural difficulties.
Experience of working within a regulated environment.
Experience of managing budgets and resources.
Experience of liaising with external partners such as local authorities, social workers, Care Inspectorate.
Experience of continually reviewing and developing, monitoring and evaluating services.
A minimum of 2 years' experience at Assistant Manager level or a minimum of 4 yrs experience including a supervisory role/professional role and related experience.

Ability to undertake shifts which include sleepovers at the service as part of staff rota.
