Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and passionate Residential Care Practitioners to support children and young people in our new children's home based in Erith, Southeast London.

As a Residential Care Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children and young people, and supporting their development. We expect all staff to contribute to creating a positive and nurturing environment.

What we're looking for

Experience of working with children, particularly those with complex support needs, this is not essential but highly beneficial. Fun, accepting, curious and empathetic personality, who demonstrates integrity and the ability to think creatively/flexibly. Ability to understand and share the feelings of children who have experienced adversity, and a clear ability to demonstrate kindness, patience and a non-judgemental attitude in all interactions. Capability to manage the emotional demands of caring for children who may present with distress behaviour, and an ability to maintain calmness in stressful situations. Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and experience identifying and responding to signs of abuse, neglect and exploitation. Awareness of child development, especially in the context of trauma, adversity, etc. Clear and effective communication with young people, colleagues, families and other professionals.

Requirements:

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent or willingness to work towards it. Experience supporting children and young people in a residential setting A strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people who have experienced trauma Full UK driving license
