About Us



Gemstones Care is a 3 bed Children's Home (EBD) in Birmingham specialising in providing trauma-informed care to children with emotional or behavioural difficulties.

We are professional and supportive in our approach and value staff welfare and quality of care for children in our care.

Role:

Residential Support Worker (Waking Nights) - Children's Home (EBD)

Salary:

13 to 13.50 per hour

Shift pattern

: 3 on / 3 off. 10.30pm start to 07.30am finish - 9 hour shifts

Requirements of this job:



Essential



Hold a full UK manual driving licence Ability to use or willing to learn and embrace the use of electronic recording system Compassion, patience, resilience and empathy Have a genuine interest in working with vulnerable looked after children and young people Ability to learn and develop new skills Have good written and communication skills Be organised and have the ability to work under supervision and unsupervised Have the ability to remain calm under pressure and in stressful environments Ability to engage effectively with children and young people Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to form good working relationships with colleagues and external professionals Work effectively in a team Computer literate Partake enthusiastically in activities with the young people A desire to strive for the best outcomes for the young people and the company Be willing to partake in any training as instructed by the home Be willing to achieve the necessary QCF Level 3 Diploma

Desirable



Previous experience working as a Childcare Practitioner Residential Childcare Setting Hold the Level 3/4 Diploma in Residential Childcare Extensive knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 including the Quality Standards

Your key responsibilities as a Residential Support Worker:



Foster a safe and caring environment and atmosphere for children and young people, promoting their well-being and development Work closely with colleagues, agencies and families to ensure the best outcomes for the children Work towards achieving a Level 3/4 Residential Childcare qualification or equivalent
