Duties
To support the Registered Manager so that the physical and emotional needs of children and young people are protected, safeguarded and promoted at all times.
Work towards all areas of the children and young people's care and education and risk management plans.
Support the Registered Manager to achieve and maintain an OFSTED rating of good or outstanding.
Ensure the home remains clean, tidy and safe both internally and externally at all times.
To support and care for children and young people in all aspects of their emotional, physical, educational and independent development.
Act as a positive role model and show children and young people how to live with integrity, optimism, hope, determination, and compassion.
To develop an understanding of current legislation including the Children's Homes Regulations (England) 2015, Working together to safeguard children 2023, Local Authority procedures and follow the company policies and procedures.
Work to a set rota that includes required sleep-in shifts to ensure consistent care and support for children in a residential setting.
Skills
Previous experience of supporting and caring for children and young people across social care, education, activity based organisations who may display challenging behaviours is desirable but not essential as training is provided alongside ongoing professional development.
Develop an understanding of how to handle conflict and managing sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes.
Good verbal communication and written skills with staff, children, families, the local community and external stakeholders.
Ability to work as part of a team within the home and posses a high level of resilience and lead by example.
Be a positive role model to children and young people.
Possession or willingness to work towards Level 4 Diploma in Caring for children and young people.
High level of resilience and organisational skills, with a willingness to undergo enhanced DBS check.
