Level 3/4 in Children and Young People or equivalent (or working towards).
Waypoint Care is seeking a motivated, caring, and ambitious Trainee Manager to join our 3-bed children's home in Doncaster. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership skills while being part of a nurturing team that provides life-changing care for children and young people with complex needs and past trauma. Your Role & Relationships
As a Trainee Manager, you will be supported to take on more responsibility in both caring for the children and assisting with team development. You'll learn how to provide guidance and supervision to Residential Support Workers, helping them build skills and confidence. Working alongside the Manager and Deputy, you'll develop your knowledge of leadership, compliance, and therapeutic care. Over time, your insights and growing leadership skills will help shape care plans and ensure each child receives the support they need.
What You'll Be DoingSupport:
Help children develop essential life skills, emotional strength, and social confidence.
Take part in planning engaging activities that build self-esteem and belonging.
Individualised, Therapeutic Care:
Work closely with the therapy team, educators, and social workers to contribute to tailored care plans.
Learn how to adjust and review plans to meet each child's evolving needs.
Safety & Emotional Support:
Support children through difficult moments with compassion and calm.
Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and stable home environment.
Guidance & Leadership (with training):
Assist in daily operations and learn the skills needed to lead effectively.
Receive mentoring and, in turn, support junior staff as your confidence grows.
Advocacy & Communication:
Champion the voices and rights of the children.
Build warm, respectful relationships with families and professionals.
Compliance & Best Practice (with training):
Learn how to ensure the home operates to the highest standards.
Keep accurate records to support continuity of care and wellbeing.
What We're Looking For
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people through trauma and healing.
Some experience in a residential care setting or similar role working with children.
A willingness to learn, with strong communication and emotional intelligence.
The ability to remain calm under pressure and provide reassurance to others.
A team spirit and a nurturing, resilient approach.
