Job Purpose:

Work alongside experienced staff in helping young people live independently, providing crucial support, especially for those with specific needs or challenging behaviours. Based in Hatfield and Luton, with plans for expansion, Essential Living Care is a unique semi-independent provider offering direct support to vulnerable young people. Our main goal is to provide a safe and homely environment, fostering structure and personal independence.

With well-trained staff and a focus on promoting independent living, we aim to build young people's self-worth, empowering them to become valued members of society. Our approach involves a long-term investment in emotional and psychological well-being, working collaboratively with young people, staff teams, local agencies, and professionals.

As a support worker, you'll play a crucial role in encouraging confidence, providing 24/7 support, and focusing on prevention strategies. Regular care plans, weekly reports, and key work sessions are essential tools used to encourage engagement and self-development.

This role is based in a semi-independent residential unit, involving support for young people within placements and assisting them in attending local appointments. Working hours vary based on the needs of young people and the staff team, and we are seeking dedicated support workers who can conduct key work sessions.

Candidates must undergo a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, hold a Level 3 qualification in working with young people or equivalent.

Key Tasks as a Support Worker



As a Support Worker, you'll make a meaningful impact by assisting with daily activities, providing emotional support, monitoring health and well-being, and administering medication if qualified. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, maintain accurate records, and ensure a safe and comfortable environment.

Essential Requirements:



- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Two satisfactory references
- Ideally, at least 1 year of experience as a Support Worker/Care Assistant
- Ability to work as a team and individually
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Good level of written and spoken English
- Subject to advanced DBS and screening process

Required education:



Level 3 - Health and Social care working with young people or equivalent Qualifications relating to working with young people and children
All the statutory training required for working with vulnerable young people in a residential setting.

Required experience:



Minimum 2 years' experience working with young people in a residential setting Ideally, at least 1 year of experience as a Support Worker/Care Assistant

Required licence or certification:



Enhanced DBS Two work references Identification Updated CV Preferably a driver Lives locally
